Our Story

Hey there, I'm Stephanie, the founder and Francophile behind Maison d'Amies Retreats. I'm so glad you're here!

If you had told me a few years ago that I'd be running luxury women's retreats in the French countryside, I'm sure I would have laughed. I started my career in nursing, a job I loved for the human connection, but one that taught me how draining life can be when you're constantly giving to others. I'm also a mom, so I know firsthand how tricky it can be to carve out time for yourself.

After years of traveling with friends and family, I finally took the plunge and planned a solo adventure. And guess what? Those 2 weeks in Paris were life changing. That experience unlocked something in me: I found the deep joy and freedom that comes from exploring the world on your own terms. Soon after, I transitioned to work in the travel industry, working with a small luxury agency where I learned the art of curating unforgettable trips.

But here's the thing, I realized there was still a gap. So many retreats out there felt either too influencer-driven, too wellness focused, or they simply were not made for real women. Women like me: busy and imperfect but who were still craving genuine connection and joy.

So I created Maison d'Amies to fill that space. The name Maison d'Amies literally translates into house of female friends, and our retreats are designed for women of all walks of life. Women who want to relax, discover themselves, make friends, and experience French culture in a way that's approachable, authentic, and deeply welcoming. We're not about Instagram-perfect moments (though there's plenty of jaw dropping vistas to be found). We're about real moments with real women, filled with laughter and kindness.

Fun Facts & Slight Obsessions

  • I once pressed paused on nursing and went to culinary school, so yes I'm a classically trained pastry chef who takes desserts very seriously.

  • My travel sidekick when I'm home? My mini bernedoodle named Ozy. He thinks he's royalty (and he's not wrong).

  • I believe good cheese and a chilled glass of rosé can fix most things.

  • I didn't grow up traveling but have spent the better part of my adult life making up for it.

  • I'll choose a quiet village café over a touristy landmark every single time.

  • My suitcase always includes a pair of comfy shoes and a good book (maybe a dark romance or two?)

So why Maison d'Amies?

Because I believe every woman deserves a space where she feels safe, celebrated, and free to just be. A place that's luxurious but never intimidating. Relaxing but never boring. And most of all, a place where you leave feeling uplifted, inspired, and part of a community.

So if you're looking for a retreat that's less about trends and more about you, you're in the right place.
